How to Become a Surrogate?
Not every woman can become a surrogate. To become a surrogate, you must meet Florida’s legal, age, and health requirements.
To qualify as a surrogate mother, you must:
- Be between 21 and 42 years of age
- Have had at least one healthy pregnancy and delivery
- Be in good physical and mental health and have a healthy body weight
- Does not currently smoke or use drugs
- Have no serious criminal record
- Be a U.S. citizen, a Green Card holder, or have legal permission to live in the United States
What Happens After You Qualify?
If you meet the requirements, the next step is getting to know the surrogacy team. You will complete interviews and health screenings. These steps help everyone learn more about you and make sure surrogacy is a good fit.

- Pregnancy and Delivery: The surrogate mother will complete the pregnancy term and deliver the baby.

Before the pregnancy begins, both parties sign a legal agreement. The agreement explains the rights and duties of both the surrogate and the intended parents. It also explains your compensation and other important details.
