If you’re starting to explore surrogacy, you may have come across the term “gestational surrogacy”— but what does it actually mean? In this post, we’ll break it down in clear, simple terms.

Gestational surrogacy is when a woman carries and gives birth to a baby for another person or couple. It’s usually done through IVF (in vitro fertilization). The person who carries the baby has no genetic relation to the child.

  4. You should not have a criminal record.
  5. The surrogate must be a U.S. citizen, a green card holder, or have another valid immigration status that allows them to stay in the country.

Key Considerations in Gestational Surrogacy

  • First, we will complete the interview and screening rounds. Once it is done, we’ll ensure that gestational surrogates and intended parents are mutually compatible.
  • Both will support each other throughout the surrogacy process.
  • Being a Gestational Surrogate involves a series of medical steps, including hormone treatments, embryo transfer, and regular check-ups.
  • A surrogate mother is entitled to compensation. Intended parents and the surrogate both have to make a contract before any medical process begins. Based on this agreement, the amount of compensation is decided.
  • Review the legal contract, as it is a crucial step in the gestational surrogacy journey.
  • You may ask questions and have representation by an independent lawyer of your choosing.
  • As your due date approaches, we will assist you in getting pre-admitted to the hospital. After delivery, we complete all paperwork and finalize the process.
